Strathalbyn playground upgrade

Work commencing 6 August 2018

The Lions Park Playground on Colman Terrace in Strathalbyn, will be upgraded with brand new play equipment and a new hill slide. Complementing the neighbouring swim centre and picnic areas, and just across the road from the Strathalbyn Library and Community Centre, the playground is an ever-popular location for families to unwind in the serenity of the scenic Soldiers Memorial Gardens.

The existing play equipment was installed in 1999 and is now reaching the end of its structural warranty period. The new equipment will see the play space functional for the next generation of youngsters to swing, slide and climb their hearts out.

Council allocated a budget of $109,000 in the 2017-18 budget and following a tender process in March 2018, are now ready to commence construction.

Works will start on Monday, 6 August 2018 and are expected to take around a month to complete, dependent on weather conditions and any other unexpected delays. Public access will be restricted during this time.

There are alternative play grounds around Strathalbyn to enjoy while the upgrades to Lions Park are undertaken; including at the Railway Station, at Strathalbyn Oval, at the Forrest Reserve Nature Playground, at Pipers Crest on Braemar Drive and on Cobb & Co Court.

Council’s website also has a brilliant directory of parks and playgrounds around the region at

Mark it in your diary - the new playground will be ready just in time for those perfect spring days. Pack a picnic and get amongst it!
