Works to carpark in Strathalbyn

Corner of High Street and Grey Street

Council is pleased to advise that upgrade work to the car park on the corner of High Street and Grey Street, Strathalbyn, will commence during the week beginning 6 August 2018.  The $97,000 project will include sealing the car park, kerbing and creating 15 car parks, including a disability access car park.  Upgrading the car park from an unsealed surface to a sealed surface will increase the number of car parks and improve the amenity of the area for visitors and residents of Strathalbyn.

The works will also include upgrading the adjacent footpath and creating a space for the Kenny Blake Memorial, which will be installed prior to the Kenny Blake Festival (26-28 October 2018.)

This project is a result of the Strathalbyn Traffic, Parking and Streetscape Plan, of which Council undertook significant consultation in 2017, and will be followed by the landscaping and parking upgrade of the Sunter Street Sculpture triangle later in the year.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by mid-September. During this time the carpark and toilet block will be closed to the public with alternative toilet facilities provided at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens and the Strathalbyn Visitor Information Centre on South Terrace.
