Volunteer Recognition Day

Volunteer Recognition Day

Alexandrina Council says 'thank you' to volunteers

On Friday, 24 November, Alexandrina Council thanked volunteers for the hard work they consistently put in through various activities across the organisation and the district.

‘Volunteer Recognition Day’ was held at the Goolwa Bowling Club and pulled together some 150 local community members who contribute, participate and add value to Council’s services.

Areas in which volunteers provide skills, support, time and effort toward include; library services, visitor and tourism services, community connect programs, arts and culture experiences; and open space and cemetery beautification and maintenance.

Alexandrina Council has over 450 registered volunteers, who have so far this year, contributed over 40,800 hours, equating to a value of over $1,120,000.

Alexandrina Council Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Rappensberg, offered a speech of recognition to all volunteers at the event, acknowledging all they do to enrich our community; while Mayor Keith Parkes presented certificates to volunteers who have achieved 10, 15, 20 or 25 years of service.

Volunteers present on the day enjoyed a lunch, friendly camaraderie and beautiful weather, basking in the satisfaction of providing a vital and integral support to our fantastic community here in Alexandrina.
