Council supports Anti-poverty Week 2017

Donations are being collected now

Anti-Poverty Week 2017 runs from Sunday 15 October until Saturday 21 October. It is a week where all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity aiming to highlight or overcome issues of poverty or hardship.

Poverty and severe hardship affect more than one million Australians, including within our local communities of the Alexandrina region and wider Fleurieu Peninsula.

In support of this fantastic initiative, Alexandrina Council is again partnering with our community for an Anti-Poverty Week Food Drive. There will be collection points for donations of non-perishable food items throughout the region during September and October 2017.

Goods donated will be distributed to a number of local community organisations that assist disadvantaged people within the Alexandrina region.

A number of food collection bins will be located across the Alexandrina region, please see below for your nearest donation point:

Between 1 October and 5 November 2017:

Goolwa: Goolwa Library, Community Hub, Goolwa Foodland, Goolwa Shopping Centre Mall, Goolwa Children’s Centre, Goolwa & District Community Bank® branch of the Bendigo Bank, Goolwa Primary School, Investigator College.

Port Elliot: Port Elliot Primary School
