Performer Details Ringbalin - Dancing the River Festival 2017 is a multi-arts project which takes place along the Murray River, connecting Indigenous communities through the revival of ceremonies and artefact making and the transfer of cultural knowledge from Elders to young people. Ringbalin began in 2010 by Major ‘Moogy’ Sumner and the Tal-Kin-Jeri Dance Group from the Coorong where the Murray River meets the sea. Starting in Walgett on the Barwon River, the Ringbalin Ceremony will bring together traditional dancers from five Aboriginal nations to celebrate the creation stories of the river tribes and call on the spirits of their ancestors to heal the rivers. The Tal-Kin-Jeri Dance Group lead the travelling performance project. Award winning chef Andrew Fielke from Creative Native Australian Cuisine will also join the dancers at Goolwa to create delicious meals for sale made with native food resources.
