Youth Development in Alexandrina
Alexandrina Council’s Youth Development Officer is responsible for developing policies and strategies for the development and participation of young people in the Southern Fleurieu region, providing planning and co-ordination of services, facilities and projects that identify needs and provide opportunities for youth development across the region.
Young people are regarded as people aged between 12 and 25 years. The Youth Development Officer works over the Southern Fleurieu region between the City of Victor Harbor and Alexandrina Council. The Youth Development Officer can be contacted on email@example.com or call 8551 0500.
The Youth Development Officer works with many committees and youth networks on both a regional and State level. These include:
Being in the Youth Advisory Committee is a great way of participating in your community and having an input to your local Council. YAC is a fun and social group to be involved with and is a great way to make friends.
YAC members all represent different groups of young people aged between 12 and 25 from the Southern Fleurieu region. This may include a school, community group, youth group, church, cultural group or youth agency. YAC aims to have a diverse membership so that the views of as many different young people as possible are represented.
YAC members meet every 3 weeks usually in the Civic Centre at Victor Harbor.
YAC participates in the running and event management of several youth, community events and blue light discos throughout the year.
Being a YAC representative means that you need to “keep in touch” with what the views, ideas and issues of concern are for the young people you are representing. You can do this in a number of ways:-
