Community Connect Services

Community Connect is supported by the Australian Government Department of Health through the Commonwealth Home Support Program, State Government and Alexandrina Council.

Community Connect advocates for and provides equitable, accessible programs and facilities to support people to remain in their community by utilising wellness models of service delivery. Active Ageing principles are incorporated to optimize health, participation and security that enhances quality of life as people age.

Volunteers can be involved to support on a one to one basis and are matched on interest and skills. Please contact Council's Volunteer Development Officer on 8555 7000 if you are interested in becoming a Volunteer.

We are also involved in a number of intergenerational activities within the community. These include regular visits to the local children’s centre and kindergartens, with the blend of activities creating opportunities for all ages to connect. Our Dads’ and Kids’ Dinners program provides an opportunity for Dads, other male caregivers such as Granddads and Uncles, and their children to come together to bond, and to meet other local families in a relaxed environment around activities such as cooking and active games.

How do I Register with Community Connect?

Contact the Alexandrina Council on 8555 7000 to arrange an initial discussion in relation to your needs. The program requires specific criteria for individuals to be eligible for services. Each individual case can be discussed with a Community Connect Coordinator.

Southern Communities Transport Scheme (SCOTS)

The Southern Communities Transport Scheme (SCOTS) assists persons who are “transport disadvantaged” by connecting them with transport services. Transport disadvantage is defined as the inability of a person to either drive themselves, or access another person to transport them.

SCOTS is available to eligible people of all age groups living in the City of Victor Harbor and Alexandrina Council areas.  People wishing to access transport services brokered or delivered by SCOTS must be assessed for their eligibility.

As well as being a transport information resource for the region, SCOTS provides two main services, Medi-Ride and Access, and a Community Shopping Bus.

For more information about these services please click here.

To make a booking for any service offered by SCOTS call 8551 0760 or email scots@victor.sa.gov.au.

The SCOTS office is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. If calling outside these hours, please leave a message with your name and contact phone number, and we will get back to you the next business day.

My Aged Care

The My Aged Care website has been established by the Australian Government to help you navigate the aged care system. The Gateway is part of the Australian Government's changes to the aged care system which have been designed to give people more choice, more control and easier access to a full range of aged care services.

You can find more information about these and other improvements to Australia's aged care system below, as well as information about the aged care workforce and a glossary of definitions that may help you to understand any unfamiliar terms that you come across while finding out more about aged care.

My Aged Care is made up of this website and a national contact centre. Together they can provide you with information on aged care, whether for yourself, a family member, friend or someone you're caring for. The contact centre can be phoned on 1800 200 422 between 8.00am and 8.00pm on weekdays and between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturdays. The My Aged Care phone line is closed on Sundays and national public holidays.
