Alexandrina Council is known nationally and internationally as a region of environmental importance and the natural beauty of our region is one of the key features attracting people to live and holiday here.
The Environmental Action Plan 2014-2018, endorsed by Council in 2014 describes in detail what Council will do over the four year period to bring our community closer to the environmental vision contained in our Community Strategic Plan 2014-2018, namely to “Thrive in Clean Green Futures”.

We are committed to working collaboratively with our community to protect and enhance our natural environment, to minimise the impact of our built environment on the natural world and to help our environment and community adapt to expected changes such as population growth and climate change in a sustainable way.
To protect and enhance the environmental assets under our care and control we have developed the Environmental Action Plan 2014-2018. The plan focuses on meeting community needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
The plan is divided into four chapters: Water Resources, Biodiversity, Climate Change and Living Local.
